Bring your mug and a friend. If you arrive a bit early, sit down and help the group repackaging plant labels ready for selling. It's a good opportunity to meet and chat with other members.

December Members’ Showcase:

  • This Showcase will be a preview of some of the plants which are featured as seeds in the Seedex.
  • Seedex donors, please bring images to the meeting so members can see the flowers whose seeds you are donating.
  • The images can be on a stick or disc or even your computer.
  • You could also email us images (full scale) and Anna will put them together for the meeting.

Growing Gracefully – Maturing a Landscape

One of the biggest challenges to long-term landscape success is considering how the landscape will evolve over time and how to cope. Sean James will explore plant choices and changes one can make in the plantings.

Sean James grew up surrounded by nature near Campbellville, ON and has been actively involved in horticulture since he was sixteen. A graduate of Niagara Parks School of Horticulture, Sean currently runs his own business 'Fern Ridge Landscaping and Eco-consulting'. He helped put together the national curriculum for Horticultural Apprentices and has been featured on the CBC and on two HGTV shows including ‘GreenForce’. Sean has co-hosted ‘the Garden Show’ with Charlie Dobbin. He chairs Landscape Ontario’s Environmental Stewardship Committee and sits on the Ontario Invasive Plant Council’s Horticultural Outreach Collaborative, the board of the Halton Peel BioDiversity Network, the Bob Rumball Association for the Deaf Farm Advisory Committee and the Perennial Plant Association’s Environmental Committee.
