Anna earned a BSc. in Botany from London Uni-versity, specializing in field botany and ecology. Since immigrating to Canada she has acquired a Diploma in Nature Interpretation from Humber College and a Diploma in Horticulture from the University of Guelph. She is a former High School teacher of Botany

Her job as a Nature Interpreter at the Kortright Centre for Conservation has involved Anna in quite a bit of plant identification in the field. She also teaches at the Toronto Botanical Garden, giving courses on subjects such as water and rock gardening.

Anna has travelled widely and studied the flora of New Zealand, Argentina, Yunnan, South Africa, Europe and Arctic Canada. She has written many articles for gardening publications and is a mem-ber of the Garden Writers Association.

"I am basically a mad gardener, gardening in a comparatively large garden in Toronto with lots of shade, deer and groundhogs. I love shrubs, bulbs, rock gardening, wildflowers, Japanese ef-fects, working with stone and changing my garden design. I would like to grow vegetables if only the deer and groundhogs would permit."

Anna Leggatt is a well-known and respected member of the Ontario Rock Garden Society and a valuable and active member of its Executive.
