January Members Showcase; Winter Sowing "Pass the Mike" session

In this "Pass the Mike" session, we'll talk about the ins-and-outs of Winter Sowing and solicit members' experiences with it. This is a particularly timely topic as we will be picking up our Seedex orders at the January meeting.

Why Winter Sowing?

The benefits range from being low maintenance, to giving plants (perennials and even annuals) a head start on the next spring, to not having to harden off the plants. All this in addition to some plants requiring this cold period to germinate, which is particularly true of many native and near-native plants.

Here is an opportunity to share our experiences with sowing our seeds in late fall or winter. Whether or not you've tried this method of sowing seeds before, you'll come away with inspiration, ideas, and techniques.

Thanks very much to Lucille Yates for the inspiration and tips.
